Restyling of Piazza San Bartolomeo: Customizing Concrete

The historic Piazza San Bartolomeo in Pistoia has recently undergone a significant restyling.

The municipal administration, in collaboration with designers Emanuele Barili and Olivia Gori, has completed a renovation that harmoniously integrates eight Ginkgo Biloba trees, new pavement elements, and custom-made furniture by Calzolari.

The aesthetic goal was to create a dialogue between the new pavement and furniture, the sandstone façade of the Romanesque church of San Bartolomeo in Pantano, and its dichromatic marble bands, to enhance the historical and artistic value of the square. Thus, the team chose white concrete finish enriched with marble powder with customized dimensions.

This project is an excellent example of the versatility of concrete in all its expressions, combining tradition and modernity in a unique and charming environment.
